As the rain drenched week ended on Sunday, Dhaka, Mymemsingh, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Rangpur and Chittagong, along with other areas have faced a raging heat wave.
The Meteorology Department on Monday said in a press release that the heat wave might continue for two more days, and the rain might start again at the end of the week.
On Sunday, Sylhet faced the highest temperatures marking 36.5 degrees on the mercury. Dhaka recorded highest temperatures of 35.6 degrees.
Most parts of the country did not see any rainfall on Sunday, however, the Rangpur district recorded 300mm rainfall.
“There’s a depression in the Bay and the clouds vanished. People are facing the heat as there is more perspiration. The heat will come down on Tuesday,” Met department’s forecast official told reporters.
On the other hand, the flood situation in the country’s North and North-West are improving rapidly as the rain ceased this week, said flood forecast and warning center’s executive engineer Sajjad Hossain.
