‘Doob’ or No Bed of Roses, a long-anticipated film, is set to get released on 27th October simultaneously in Bangladesh, India, Singapore and Australia. The film will be released in 100 cinema halls in Bangladesh and in 200 halls in India.
The film was written and directed by Mostofa Sarwar Farooki and produced by Himanshu Dhanuka, Abdul Aziz and Irrfan Khan under the banner of Eskay Movies and Jaaz Multimedia along with Irrfan Khan Films.
Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan has shared the screen with actress Nusrat Imrose Tisha while Rokeya Prachy and Parno Mittra will be there in supporting roles.
The film bagged an independent jury award at the 39th Moscow International Film Festival while it was nominated for the Golden Goblet Awards in Shanghai International Film Festival.
A private screening of the film was earlier held at Irrfan’s house.
According to a review in top international newspaper, The Hollywood Reporter, “Irrfan Khan brings the story of a family break-up to life in director Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s Indian-Bangladeshi co-production. It takes an actor of Irrfan Khan’s stature and magnetism to turn an intimate separation drama into something special, and a writer-director like Bangladesh’s happy maverick Mostofa Sarwar Farooki to layer on subtleties and shades of meaning with realistic detachment that never slips into melodrama.”
The movie directed by Mostafa Sarowar farooki, allegedly loosely based on late novelist and filmmaker Humayun Ahmed’s life, was earlier banned by the Bangladesh Information Ministry. Farooki denied that it’s a biopic repeatedly.
The Bangladesh Film Development Corporation’s (BFDC) Joint Venture Preview Committee approved the script of the movie on March 8, 2016, after which the film went into production. The completed film was previewed for the BFDC on February 12, 2017, and received a No Objection Certificate on February 15. But just a day later, the BFDC sent the producers a letter stating that the certificate had been cancelled due to a letter from the Bangladesh Information Ministry.
