BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said UNESCO’s recognition to the historic 7th March speech of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is a matter of joy.
“This recognition is a matter of joy,” the BNP leader said on Saturday at a programme at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity this afternoon when the ruling Awami League was holding a rally to celebrate the UNCESCO’s recognition to the historic speech of the Father of the Nation.
On the other hand, he criticized the government for closing down schools and colleges for the rally.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) recognised the historic 7th March Speech of Bangabandhu as part of world’s documentary heritage on October 31.
UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova announced it saying the historic 7th March speech of Bangabandhu has been included in the Memory of the World International Register, a list of world’s important documentary heritage maintained by the UNESCO.
