The depression over the southeast bay and adjoining area moved north-northwestwards over the same area.
It was centred at 12pm on Thursday about 1,215 kms southwest of Chittagong port, 1,140 kms southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 1,175 kms south-southwest of Mongla port and 1,140 kms south-southwest of Payra port.
According to a special bulletin of the Met office, it is likely to intensify further and move in a north-northwesterly direction.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 44 kms of the depression centre is about 40 kph rising to 50 kph in gusts/squalls. Sea will remain moderate near the depression centre.
The maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted distant cautionary signal No 1.
All fishing boat and trawlers over the north bay have been advised to proceed with caution and have also been advised not to venture into the deep sea.
