A Dhaka court on Monday granted bail to national team cricketer Arafat Sunny in a dowry case filed by Nasrin Sultana, who claimed to be his wife.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Jakir Hossain passed the order after Sunny surrendered before the court on Monday morning seeking bail, said his lawyer Jewel Ahmed.
Earlier on Sunday, the court framed charges against Sunny in a dowry case filed by Nasrin.
The court also issued arrest warrant as Sunny could not appear before the court as he has been suffering from Chikunguniya.
Previously on April 5, the court granted ad-interim bail to the cricketer.
Nasrin Sultana filed the case against the cricketer and his mother with the court on charge of demanding Tk 20 lakh as dowry on January 23. Later the court dismissed Sunny’s mother from the case proceedings following investigations.
Claiming to be Sunny’s wife, Nasrin also filed another case under the Information and Communication Technology Act against the cricketer for posting their intimate photographs on social media.
