An activist of the ruling party Awami League was shot dead on Monday (July 17) inside a classroom of Beanibazar Government College of Sylhet.
The deceased was identified as Khaled Ahmad, 23, who was shot at around 12:30pm on Monday following a clash of rival groups of the Bangladesh Chhatra League in Sylhet.
Additional police superintendent of Sylhet Sugyan Chakma has said that two rivals group of Chhatra League in Beanibazar College locked horn in a clash around 11.3am on Monday.
The clash took place at the college compounds between two local Chhatra League groups — Pavel group and Pallab group.
Khaled was an outsider in the college and took part in the clash as an activist of the Pavel group. Few unidentified youths stormed in and shot him dead during the clash, witnesses and sources said.
Later, police recovered the body and sent that to a local hospital.
Meanwhile, three persons were detained from the shooting spot.
