At least five workers have suffered from injuries after a chemical-laden drum exploded at a factory of Berger Paints in Ashulia industrial belt in Dhaka’s Savar upazila.
Employees at the factory said the explosion took place around Thursday noon when a batch of workers were working inside the factory building at Mirzaganj.
The whole building trembled at the blast.
Following the huge explosion, five workers fell over the railing of the second floor.
The workers were admitted to a local hospital.
DEPZ Fire Station Officer Abdul Hamid told reporters that a team of firefighters rushed to the spot after the incident.
The cause of the blast as well as the extent of losses could not be ascertained yet.
