The Education Ministry has given three months ultimatum to madrasas currently operating without government permission, to register under the Madrasa Education Board.
An order was issued by the Technical and Madrasa Education Division of the ministry in this regard on Sunday.
The madrasas have also been directed to misleading words “cadet” and “international” from their names.
The Assistant Secretary Abdul Khalek signed order, asked madrasas to follow the curriculum and textbooks of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) and Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board.
The order also directs the madrasas to hoist the national flag and students must sing the national anthem.
Every madrasa has to be registered under the Madrasa Board and tuition fees will have to be fixed and collected like other secondary education institutions, the order also stated.
The Directorate of Madrasa Education, Madrasa Education Board, deputy commissioners, district education officers, upazila executive officers and education officers will regularly monitor the activities of the madrasas.
